The Chiyu Uemae Memorial Foundation was established in 2013 by a group of supporters who shared a close association with Chiyu Uemae in his later years. Its mission is to preserve and present his artworks and archival materials, and to foster a deeper understanding of his artistic practice.
The Foundation is dedicated to the careful preservation and stewardship of artworks and related materials, while also advancing research into the artistic significance of Uemae’s work. Through collaboration on exhibitions, publications, and the development of archival resources, the Foundation seeks to convey the essence of his artistic expression and its historical context to a broad audience.
Through these activities, the Foundation aims to deepen appreciation of postwar Japanese art and to further strengthen international recognition of Uemae’s artistic achievement.
